“I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination”.
One cause for fear of change, is when we don’t understand the reason for it. This is when we start to resist it. Noone likes getting pushed out of their comfort zones, we put in work to get to that comfort. We might complain about our ‘routines’, but they make us feel secure, so we value it.
Reality is change is inevitable. It’s also required for progress. Just as much as we love our ‘routines’, we love to manifest/pray for more. More peace of mind, more stability, more wealth, more etc…We ask the universe for more, then become afraid when the universe changes things to get us in the path to achieve what it is we ask for. Then there are times where we don’t ask for more, we’re are perfectly content with where we are and change comes anyway. These changes occur because of external factors outside of our control. These are the hardest changes because we don’t know the whys, so we don’t understand the reason for it.
This is why we are here in this space. Putting in work so when this change happens, we are able to adapt to it and come out better than we were before we encountered the change. Here are some ways to adapt/cope:
1st acknowledge your feelings. It doesn’t matter what your reaction to change is your emotions and
feelings are valid. Both are part of what makes you,
you. Listening to them is a crucial step in accepting changes in your life.
Now start to see it as an opportunity. Don’t let change boss you around, it’s going to happen anyway. But find a way to make it something that benefits you and your needs. Change may seem like it’s going to turn your life upside down, but that doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing. It can be an opportunity for you to start afresh and make positive alterations to your life. Come up with a list of positives that can come from the change. By creating this list your able to associate a reason to this change. You know have an understanding of what you hope to achieve from this change.
Always seek support on your journey. Your not alone in this world. It’s easy to bottle your emotions up in times of change. We know that avoidance is a toxic trait, and is not our truth. So avoiding dealing with upcoming situations isn’t the best strategy. Turn to friends and/or family to help you deal with change. Sometimes just talking it out with someone else can help you organise your thoughts.
This is how we start to take control over the changes that happens in our lives. You got this 🦾
