Did you ever think you would get dumped just because you’re an NFT enthusiast? This is exactly what happened to Twitter user and NFT enthusiast @Feld4014.
@Feld4014 took to Twitter to air his grievances. He tweeted that his Tinder date did not give him the time of day because he is an avid NFT collector. Not only that, but as soon as she learned he was an NFT influencer, she didn’t even agree to meet him.
@Feld4014 tweeted: “1) downloaded tinder; 2) matched with a woman 3); exchanged banter with said woman; 4) scheduled date for Monday night; 5) Sunday night got this message saying she didn’t think we’d be compatible because… (See screenshot) #NFTs I CAN’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP FAM.”
Don’t mention NFTs on dates
It’s safe to say that bringing up the topic of NFTs on a date, or before a date, is bound to be controversial. While more and more people are getting into NFTs, there are many who don’t believe the hype. This is because the way we view NFTs is highly subjective and psychological.
According to psychologist Bence Nanay PhD, “Two images may be pixel-by-pixel identical, but nonetheless, looking at one may feel very different from looking at the other. The reason for this is that perception is not fully determined by the visual input (which is identical in this case).”
“It also depends on our beliefs and knowledge—for example, about what else we know about the image. So our perceptual experience is the result of a two-way interaction between the visual input and our background knowledge.”
Meanwhile, dating apps such as Tinder and Bumble are dipping their toes into the metaverse. On March 13, Tinder posted a tweet that indicated the company’s interest in female-led NFT projects.
