The recent market rebound has put XRP on track to record its best September performance since the 2022 bear market.
After soaring by an impressive 30% in August, XRP started September on a bearish note, declining more than 2% in the first two days of the month. However, bulls have since turned the tide, negating a bearish pattern that has always followed September whenever August ends in profit.
Notably, XRP collapsed to a low of $1.25 on Sept. 16 after the U.S. Senate failed to advance the Clarity Act. Interestingly, a rebound campaign ensued, which has since pushed prices to heights close to the $1.60 area. With this uptick, September has flipped green.
XRP on Track for Best September Since 2022
However, the most important part of this recovery push is XRP’s gains this month. Specifically, with a 13.7% increase in September, XRP is now on track to record its best performance for the month of September since the 2022 bear market.
September has historically been a bullish month for XRP, delivering an average gain of 13.7% since it started trading in 2013. Over the past four years, dating back to 2022, XRP has seen four consecutive bullish closes in September.
Nonetheless, these bullish closes have materialized with mild gains, including +0.42% in 2023, +7.98% in 2024, and then +2.49% in 2025. This time, the figure has slipped into double-digit territory, representing the biggest since the 46.2% rise recorded in 2022.
In addition, each of these green September closes has occurred after a decline in the previous month, August. Specifically, XRP witnessed four consecutive red months in August from 2022 to 2025, with declines of 13.6%, 26.6%, 9.17%, and 8.15%.
August 2026 marks XRP’s first bullish August since the 2021 bull market, when the token rose nearly 60%. Meanwhile, the current September performance deviates from a pattern that has kept September in the red whenever August closes bullish.
Data Points to XRP Recovery
Overall, XRP appears to be breaking historical patterns in an effort to stage a recovery push after nursing massive losses since Q4 2025. Notably, after reaching the $3.6 peak in July 2025, XRP started pulling back, eventually joining the broader market downturn from October 2025.
The downward price action that ensued from that point resulted in a price crash from $2.84 to the $0.98 floor in August 2026, representing a 65% drawdown. XRP has since recovered 61% from $0.98 to the current price of $1.58, looking to recoup some of the lost value.
However, the $1.58 value marks a slight decline from the $1.65 peak attained today, as bears look to engineer a correction. For XRP to maintain its green performance in September, it must hold above the $1.38 price level, which would mark a 12.6% decline from the current price.
