Rise & Grind 👑 🙌🏾
In the video for this week it says…The average person has between 60,000 and 80,000 thoughts daily. Ans 90% of those thoughts are repeating from the day before! Then it asked would you consider a machine efficient, if 90% of its operations produced identical unnecessary output? We have to stop these leaks that keeps us in an endless cycle? The energy leak of overthinking, is something I’ve struggled with my entire life.
Do you ever feel exhausted, not from what you did physically, but from the endless mental chatter running in the background? That’s overthinking draining our energy.
The mind is powerful, remember we’ve only unlocked a small %. But when left unchecked, it becomes an overactive browser with too many tabs open. Slowing down everything, buffering, and making it impossible to focus. The wild part, is almost all of the thoughts draining us, aren’t even real problems.
– Replaying past conversations.
– Stressing over things out of our control.
– Imagining worst-case scenarios that may never happen.
It’s like running on a mental treadmill but going nowhere. This is why we feel drained before the day even begins.
Yoga Sutras describe the mind’s fluctuations as “Vrittis”. This is waves of thought that drain our prana (life force energy). Overthinking doesn’t just deplete mental energy, it affects us physically and emotionally.
Remember when we discussed ‘The Art of Effortless Action’? Overthinking is the opposite. It’s forcing mental energy instead of allowing things to flow.
We know external energy drains exist, but overthinking is an internal vampire we create. It’s self-sabotage. Just like seasons, our minds need cycles of rest. When we resist, we create mental exhaustion. And many of our overthinking patterns come from taking things personally. Worrying about what others think, analyzing past interactions, or stressing over future outcomes.
So how do we patch the ‘Overthinking’ leaks?
If overthinking is an energy leak, then stillness is the patch that stops the leak. We don’t stop thinking entirely, but we learn to observe thoughts without being controlled by them.
Practice Mental Stillness (Wu Wei in Action)
Instead of fighting thoughts, let them flow. When the mind starts spiraling, pause and take a deep breath. Ask yourself if that thought is serving you, or is it just noise?
Shift from Thinking to Trusting
Overthinking is often distrust in the universe. We try to control every detail because we fear the unknown. But when we trust our path, we let go of unnecessary thoughts and make space for inspired action.
Clear Mental Tabs
At the end of the day, write down your thoughts—get them out of your head and onto paper. Imagine closing each mental tab, freeing up energy for what actually matters.
Use the Power of The Present
Overthinking pulls us into past regrets or future worries. Grounding exercises like deep breathing, meditation, or simply focusing on what’s in front of us can help bring the mind back to the present.
By recognizing the mental clutter, we take back our energy. When we create space in the mind, we free ourselves to focus on what truly matters. Let’s make this time about releasing unnecessary thoughts and stepping into clarity. What’s one thought pattern you’re letting go of this week? 🧐
May the week be prosperous and abundant for all of us on this path 🙏🏾
