Rise & grind 👑

Remember the week we reflected on “Life Lessons” there was an image of a man chasing money thru multiple phases of his life. Only to get to the end and have all this money in his hand with no where else to go. That day we discussed prioritizing things in life, & reflected on what do we spend our days “chasing”?

This is a full circle moment. A reminder that when it’s all said and done, we can’t take monetary or the materialistic things we chase with us. It brings us to Paramitas #1 Generosity.

That good Karma we built up in this life from GIVING to those in need will carry on with us as we transition to the next phase of our journey. For me I feel our spirits are infinite, and more vast than the vessels in which they are contained. I don’t know the answers, but I do know my body gets older, but my spirit is becoming bigger as I move forward on my spiritual journey. So for me it feels like separate entities.

A good thing that comes with practicing generosity is it can help us overcome our attachments. As we discussed in the past, it’s our attachments that correlates with the sufferings we experience in life.

Keep in mind I’m not saying give your entire pay check to those in need. It can be challenging to give monetarily. Especially if your like me I did not grow up with a lot of money. For those like me, it’s been instilled in our minds to “Save”. You never know when hard times will come. This is were the reflection of “balance” helps. We should only give within our means. There is a way to give without taking food off of your table.

For example I always round up my purchases when offered. Especially when it’s organizations related to children, like St. Jude. I also give $20 a month , for me it’s pretty much the cost of a meal. But aside from money, I’ve also given my time.

Time is also something I can’t take with me. So Im mindfully with how I give it the same way I do money. A few mins of just listening to someone express themselves means a lot to that person. Especially when they don’t feel heard. I’ve even given my time to organizations like The Ronald McDonald House. They provide a home away from home for families with children being treated in hospitals near by. So friends and I have gone to cook lunch for the families. No more than an hour or so of my time, and I was able to feed a family going thru a challenging time.

Think of giving your time in the granular sense. Just a few seconds of holding a door, or smiling at someone. That moment of light lasts beyond the seconds it cost you to give. What is something you can afford to give to others, that you know you can’t take with you?
