An Interview with Ivica Simatovic – Oaziz DAO Contributor | Bitcoinist.com

Decentralised applications are gaining momentum. So far, this trend is of little concern, but in cryptocurrency, we increasingly hear about DAOs – decentralised autonomous organisations. Today we will talk about the heart of any application – development with Ivica Simatovic – Oaziz DAO contributor.

We are glad to welcome you, Ivica! Tell our readers a bit about yourself.

Greetings! Thank you for the invitation – I am thrilled to be here today. I’m one of Oaziz DAO core contributors. My field of responsibility is the development and technical part of our project.

Q: How did you get into crypto?

A: Like most of us, I guess. I was curious about decentralisation and the whole idea of decentralized digital money. That was 2011, and it’s possible to say that I was the one among the lucky early adopters. At that time, it was all about fun, freedom and interest. And I’m pleased to see a lot of enthusiasts preserved that spirit and courage, even though more than ten years have passed.

Q: Could you imagine then that cryptocurrencies would become such a mass phenomenon and go far beyond the means of payment?

A: I did not think about it, but I did everything for the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies. In those distant times, I launched a project somewhere between the cryptocurrency and the gaming industry. Something that is now called GameFi. I figured that the audience of gamers is much larger than the audience of bitcoin enthusiasts. Therefore, my team and I created a project that brought decentralisation, transparent payments and all the main ideas of bitcoin to the world of gamers. Before that, we often held gaming hackathons, which were the first step toward decentralised development, so we had experience and acquaintances in this area. Even though the project did not take off, it was a precious experience and pleasant emotions.

Q: You were ahead of time by many years. However, cryptocurrency trends are changing quite quickly now, GameFi/P2E, M2E. So what do you think, which of the modern trends will be with us for a long time.

A: This is the standard process of evolution. Some trends stay, some don’t, and there’s nothing strange about that. Just recently, it seemed to everyone that Poloneix would always be the largest exchange, and now it is not even in the top 5. The main thing is that in the field of cryptocurrencies, its basic ideas and values remain. As for modern trends, the NFT is of the most significant interest. So the sphere that made a splash last year is still very far from its maximum use. Copyrights, identity verification, transfer of ownership, legal documents – this is not a complete list of where NFTs can be used. I am sure that this area will go far beyond digital goods and become widespread.

Q: Let’s get back to the Oaziz project. As far as I understand, this is the first decentralized project in the field of event management.

A: Yes. The slogan of Oazizsounds like this – making community-owned events a reality. Web3 is still a bit closed and inaccessible to the masses as it requires some technical knowledge. Oaziz provides infrastructure for everyone.

Q: Sounds very bold. Tell us what other advanced features you are implementing.

A: One of the main principles of the development of Oaziz is the values embodied with the help of the technical component. Therefore, we are implementing quite a lot of unique technologies – attend-to-earn protocol, NFT tickets, which, in my opinion, should become the standard, decentralised profit distribution protocols among all (I emphasise again, absolutely all) participants of the DAO event.

Q: Who can join your DAO? Maybe some of our readers would like to contribute to your project.

A: I’m delighted to see many people joining our project, proposing, participating and growing with us. If you want to become a part of Oaziz DAO, join our Discord. After that, you’ll find your place there, based on your skills and experience.

Q: Do you think it will not be difficult for people who have never dealt with cryptocurrency to deal with NFT tickets and other Web3 features?

A: On the contrary: events are perhaps the easiest way to join Web3. It is enough to buy a ticket, and you are already a part of the DAO. And getting a part of the profit from the event only encourages the participant to delve into and understand. So I think we’re making Web3 accessible to everyone.

Q: Don’t you have a feeling that decentralisation has now become a marketing technique?

A: Unfortunately, this is sometimes the case. Decentralisation is a complex system where many factors need to be considered. Most of us are used to working on projects with a vertical structure. And difficulties begin already at this stage. And not everyone is ready actually to move to a decentralised model. However, we can observe a gradual increase in genuinely decentralised projects. And this cannot but rejoice.

Q: With all my personal love for decentralisation, centralised projects have some advantages due to the horizontal structure, which allows them to optimise resources. However, don’t you think that DAO can not withstand the competition?

A: Here we need to talk about somewhat different categorical approaches. Yes, centralised development has its undeniable advantages. But it also has weaknesses. We cannot say that one method is better and the other is worse. Everyone chooses the path that is more suitable for specific tasks. In our case, we embody our values through development, so decentralisation is our only option.

Q: DAOs, NFTs, and Web3, are gaining momentum. So what awaits us after this?

A: I don’t know, honestly. First, we need to deal with Web3 (laughs). Indeed, we live in a fantastic time. In fact, we are very fortunate to observe and be at the epicentre of such truly historical changes. I think cryptographic proofs of computational integrity are what are to be discovered and developed now. And that development and evolution will lead us forward to even more convenient technologies.

Thank you very much for this conversation. It was very nice.

My pleasure, guys!
