MadeinTYO Debuts Deluxe 2021 Album On Blockchain-Based Streaming Service

MadeinTYO recently dropped a deluxe album, SOUL-LUXE, on the blockchain-based streaming service named Audius.

SOUL-LUXE is a deluxe version of his 2020 full-length album Never Forgotten with a spin on it. MadeinTYO worked with Soulection to reimagine and remix his 2020 album.

“It was an opportunity for me to shed light and appreciation towards the Soulection collective. I believe that their impact on hip-hop and music as a whole is underrated,” MadeinTYO said in a press release.

Then, he partnered with a blockchain-based streaming service for the release. He said, “I decided to release the project on Audius, a music streaming ecosystem that will help change the landscape for artists.”

Built on the Ethereum blockchain, Audius wants to be the solution for artists in the music industry.

“The music industry generates $43 billion in revenue but only 12% goes to content artists,” the Audius whitepaper says. “Furthermore, artists have minimal control over how their music is distributed and little visibility into who is streaming it. To address these and other problems faced by artists, we introduce Audius, a fully decentralized music streaming protocol built with public blockchain infrastructure and other decentralized technologies.”

Audius seeks give “everyone the freedom to distribute, monetize, and stream unstoppable audio,” according to their website. According to The Verge and Coindesk, they’re directly competing for SoundCloud’s audience.

While MadeinTYO’s partnership with Audius points to its increasing popularity, Audius has also had issues with payouts and questions around copyright. This partnership also points to another musician bridging music and blockchain.

After the launch on Audius, MadeinTYO made his music available on most other platforms, like Spotify and Apple Music.
