The book is basically saying when in a negative situation, use this principle to find the opposite which is positive. Then focus all of your mental and emotions on that positive to restore balance by eliminating the negative situation we’ve come across on our journey. 

So let’s look how the Principle of Polarity relates  to the first 3 principles. Maybe understanding the correlation will help us in strengthen our ability to find it in those negative moments.

How the principle of polarity relates to the first 3 Hermetic principles:

Mentalism – The principle of Mentalism teaches that the universe is mental, and everything is energy vibrating at different frequencies. Polarity reflects the dual nature of this energy, where opposites coexist and complement each other. Just as positive and negative thoughts coexist within the realm of the mind, polarity reminds us that contrasting forces are inherent in the fabric of existence.

Correspondence – The principle of Correspondence states, “As above, so below; as below, so above.” This principle highlights the interconnectedness and unity of the universe, suggesting that patterns and structures in the macrocosm (the universe) are reflected in the microcosm (individuals) and vice versa. Polarity underscores this relationship by emphasizing the presence of dualities at all levels of existence, from the smallest particles to the vast cosmos.

Vibration – The principle of Vibration asserts that everything in the universe is in constant motion and vibrates at a specific frequency. Polarity further elaborates on this concept by acknowledging that these vibrations manifest as polar opposites, such as hot and cold, light and dark, or love and fear. Just as vibrations fluctuate between high and low frequencies, polarity illustrates the dynamic interplay between contrasting energies within the universe.

So we can see the principle of polarity complements and reinforces the foundational principles of Mentalism, Correspondence, and Vibration. It does so by highlighting the dualistic nature of existence and the interconnectedness of all phenomena. It serves as a reminder that opposites are not separate but part of the same unified whole, contributing to the balance and harmony of the cosmos.
