This week I wanted to reflect on mental health and why you being in this channel/space is important. What is it? Why is it important?

Mental health is how you feel about yourself and your life. It affects how you think, feel, and act. When you have good mental health, you feel good about yourself. Its also critical to assisting each of us with coping with the ups and downs of life.

So its important to make sure you take care of your mental health the same way you do your physical health. We go to Gyms & doctors to keep our body’s in good shape. What are we doing for our mental health?

There are many things that can affect your mental health, like thoughts, feelings, relationships, and experiences. Some common mental health problems that people experience include:

Stress: This is a feeling of worry, tension, or nervousness. Stress can be caused by many things, such as school, family, or friendships.

Anxiety: This is a feeling of worry, fear, or nervousness that is often accompanied by physical symptoms, such as a racing heart or sweating. Anxiety can be caused by many things, such as stress, trauma, or genetics.

Depression: This is a feeling of sadness, hopelessness, or worthlessness that can interfere with your daily life. Depression can be caused by many things, such as stress, trauma, or genetics.

Eating disorders: These are serious mental health problems that involve unhealthy eating habits. Eating disorders can be caused by many things, such as low self-esteem, body image concerns, or trauma.

Here are some tips for taking care of your mental health:

Sleep/Rest. When you are well-rested, you are better able to cope with stress and challenges.

Healthy diet. Eating healthy foods gives your body the nutrients it needs to function at its best.

Exercise. Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and improve your mood.

Spend time with loved ones. Social support is important for your mental health.

Do things you enjoy. Make time for activities that you find relaxing and enjoyable.

Seek help if you need it. If you are struggling with your mental health, there is help available. If you will go to a walk in clinic for a cold, why not talk to a counselor when your stressed?

Everyone experiences mental health problems at some level, so it is important to remember that you are not alone. If you are struggling with your mental health, there are things you can do to help yourself. You can talk to a trusted source. You can also find helpful resources online, in your community, or positive spaces like this.
