Rise & Realign! 👑🙌🏾

It’s been a minute since I last posted. Apologies for the delay, needed to take some time to be present with my family. I made it back to my Sunday Dharma class, and the discussion was the Kleshas. Which I don’t recall ever hearing about, so was excited to find a new connection.

So this week, I want to jump into the concept of “mental poisons”. The sneaky inner forces that disrupt our peace, cloud our minds, and keep us stuck in cycles of suffering. Go back and review The Four Agreements, energy vampires, or Taoism’s Wu Wei. We know identifying what drains or distorts our energy is only half the battle.

Remember the Smokey Mirror? How illusions cloud our perception and disconnect us from truth? Think of mental poisons as another layer of that smoke. But this time, instead of just external influences, we’re focusing on the inner toxins….our fears, attachments, and biases that shape how we see the world and ourselves.

Now, let’s circle back to the Kleshas. Rooted in both Indian yoga and Buddhist philosophy, the Kleshas are described as “afflictions” or “obstacles” that poison our minds. Both traditions identify them as key contributors to human suffering, though they frame them slightly differently:

1. Indian Yoga Philosophy: The Kleshas represent five obstacles that keep us from spiritual clarity, like ignorance or attachment.

2. Buddhist Philosophy: The focus is on three core poisons ignorance, attachment, and aversion that fuel our struggles in life.

Both approaches provide incredible insights and tools for breaking free from mental traps. This week, we’ll explore how these poisons operate, how to identify them, and most importantly, how to dissolve them…What’s the antidote?

Here’s a reflection task: Where are we stuck in the illusions of the Smokey Mirror? or with letting our fears or cravings dominate our choices? Let’s use this week to clear the fog, find the antidotes, and step closer to freedom.

Infinite Peace and Light To All On This Journey 🙏🏾
