Rise & Grind 👑 🙌🏾
“There was no Jedi so wise that he could not be undone by his own assumptions.” — Claudia Gray
May the force be with us as we close out this week’s review of the 3rd agreement. I know some days seemed to blend in with others. Remember repetition is considered a very important part of learning and skill acquisition. It helps solidify knowledge and abilities by strengthening neural connections in the brain through repeated practice, leading to better retention and fluency.
So let’s recap our journey with the Third Agreement “Don’t Make Assumptions” and the insights we’ve shared. We dug into why assumptions are such easy traps, how they fuel misunderstandings, and why practicing this agreement can be a game changer in breaking toxic cycles. Whether we’re talking about personal relationships, social circles, or even the big picture of our shared humanity, making assumptions often leads to division, conflict, and unnecessary stress.
We explored the importance of clear communication and the power of curiosity to guide us away from assuming and toward understanding. We also connected this to our earlier agreements: by being impeccable with our word and not taking things personally, we become more rooted in our own truth and resilient against the projections of others. These agreements together create a toolkit to help us see beyond the “Smokey Mirror”—the illusions and judgments that fog our reality.
As we move forward, let’s keep this in mind, assumptions may seem like shortcuts, but they end up pulling us away from each other and from the truth. Next week, we’ll dive into the 4th Agreement, bringing this journey full circle. Until then, let’s reflect on the clarity we’ve gained and the unity we strive for, remembering that we are all part of a larger whole. Here’s to finding peace, curiosity, and connection as we practice letting go of assumptions and embracing what’s real. 🙏🏾
