Indices: Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.03%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Tuesday. Shares of Exide Industries Ltd.(up 4.12 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 3.27 per cent), Bosch Ltd.(up 3.26 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 3.25 per cent) and Apollo Tyres Ltd.(up 1.76 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 2.22 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 1.31 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 1.2 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.14 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.86 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.03 per cent down at 25715.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 92.31 points at 23557.9, while the BSE Sensex stood up 308.37 points at 77301.14.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 ended in the green, while 15 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, HFCL, GMR Infra, YES Bank and RattanIndia Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Poddar Pigments, Paras Defence, JNK India, Windsor Machine and Nandan Denim hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while CMI Ltd, SEL Manufacturing Co, IndInfravit Trust, Ahimsa Ind and GIR Natureview hit their fresh 52-week lows.
